A Fun Final Day of 2019

Thank you to our parent volunteers who came in and helped make our Holiday Centres possible! It couldn't have (literally) happened without you!
Today was a great day - but odd, we said! We didn't do French this morning, we did Braille! Ask me what I made with braille and how I made it. In the afternoon, we had more free time in the gym and watched a Toupie et Binou (en français) about Noël and finished some work. Ask me where I got to do my silent reading today! It was a great day!
Many Merry Christmas and Happy Winter Break wishes from Mme! She says THANK YOU for all of the lovely and generous gifts as well as the heartwarming handmade cards! (Those are the most precious!) Enjoy the family time together and see you all next year!

Final Day of 2019 tomorrow!

Wow, the time has flown by! We have one last day of school tomorrow (PD day on Friday for the students) and it'll be festive wear day!
Today, we learned a bit about braille when studying touch in Science. In math, we continued skip counting, counting hands by 5. We had some free time in Gym and we earned free time in the classroom by speaking French. We also made something with our buddies but you'll need to wait until tomorrow to see what it is!

All our library books have been returned!

Thank you for helping us all return our library books - we got a special email from Mme N congratulating our class!
Today, we skip counted by 2 again. Ask me what we made that seats 2 people. Some of us were videoed reading a book; it will probably have to wait until January to get into IRIS. In Science, we learned some new words related to touch and glued several items onto our hands (paper hands, that is!).
Tomorrow is festive toque/hat day again.

Final Monday of 2019!

Today, we started a new "desk book" to read. It involves the vocabulary around Christmas and numbers. Once done, I'll practice reading it and will pick one of these books to make a video of. We finished some art work today (coming home this week!) and we even cleaned out our desks! We practiced skip counting by 2s (up and down), with our hundreds chart. We challenged ourselves to see how high we could get with our partners without our hundreds chart. Ask me to skip count for you (en français!) by 2s from 0. In Science, we briefly started the 2nd of the 5 senses we're studying: touch. As well, we had a student share about his cultural celebrations today! Music and gym finished off the day.
A reminder from Mme that tomorrow is: Wear Red and Green day for the school!

Demain, on chante!

We met with buddies today and read to them. Some of us also read our journal writing. During gym time, we had free centres. I can wear something festive tomorrow for our caroling assembly!
Today, we have the most pictures because of all of our community presentations and our journal writing/reading!

Zones of Regulation stations today!

Ask me about the different stations we did today and which one(s) I preferred. Also, check my understanding of the different zone colours and what they mean. In math, we did more skip counting. We finished more of our French books that we're going to read to our Gr. 3 buddies tomorrow. In Science, we cut out some images of what smells good (not all just food!). We ended our day with music!

A reminder from Mme: if your child didn't bring back their library books today, please send them tomorrow or Friday. Merci from Mme N! Friday at 8.45 am, we are caroling in the gym!

Please return books in the plastic bag

A note from Mme: Please return all library books tomorrow for the holiday break in the large plastic bag from the school.
We had a great day - so busy that Mme didn't get any pictures! We worked on some more of our "desk books" this morning as well as a new math word problem involving lutins (elves) and rennes (reindeer). Our afternoon was taken up by gym and a large art project. A great day!

Un bon lundi!

Today, we were fortunate enough to have a couple of special visitors. Dr. Mike came in to briefly talk to us about health and safety in relation to cold weather as well as ways to keep us healthy all year long. See if I remember a couple of ways. In gym, we also had some people from Winsport who were here to talk to the Div 2 students about skiing/snowboarding this week. They talked to us and we got to do some snow sports stations to get active. We discussed two new letters today: "z" and "h". Ask me what is special about both of them (z sounds in French as it does in English and h is silent!) We had a number of students present on their community (Bravo!) and in math, we practiced skip counting by 2s. Can I count for you to 10?
Mme N in the library is asking for all books to be returned before the holidays by this Wednesday, Dec. 11th. Merci!

What did I like best about Pyjama Day?

Ask me which teacher read which book to me today during our school-wide book time. Did I meet any new students I might be able to say hi to in the hallway or play with on the playground? It was a short day and besides our book time, we worked on work from the week: journals, centres and a new "desk" book (a book that stays in our desk to practice our reading skills).
Bonne fin de semaine!

Pyjama day tomorrow

Reminders from Mme: Tomorrow is pyjama day. Students are allowed to also bring a stuffed animal that is smaller than a basketball (and doesn't light up or talk!) to enjoy the day with them.
If I exchanged my library books today, I am bringing home my new ones in a large plastic bag (with my name on it) that Mme Brinson gave to each of us. Mme N from "la bibliothèque" is asking us to keep our library books in this bag at all times to reduce the destruction that is happening. Today, we had Mme Zdrill in the morning! With her, we started making a new book to keep in our desk as well as some journal writing. When Mme returned for the afternoon, we started a new art project, did some learning centres and started a new Science experiment using smell. Ask me what I smelled today!

Library Day tomorrow

A great and busy day today! We had gym, music and centres time. We only got to do one centre today. Ask me which one I did. We learned some festive vocabulary. Only two people were able to present their community today as we were so busy. So far, we have five communities and only one in each.

Friday is pyjama day!

We had a great "mardi"! We had "éducation physique". Ask me what was different about the nets today. In math, we worked on odd/even ("pair/impair") and used something we wear every day as an example of how even needs a "partner". We made cards today in French of all the letters/sounds we have studied. We will use these to build syllables and words. We read them today to our buddy class. We also had some students present their community/landmark to the class after having practiced them for a long time! Great job presenting in French!

Notes from Mme: We reached our Food Drive goal - and surpassed it! 104! Bravo. Let's keep it up! Library day is Thursday. Finally, if anyone has parenting magazines to donate to the class, it'd be much appreciated. (We are looking specifically for children demonstrating different emotions.)

Bienvenue au décembre!

A new month = new calendar, new vocabulary and new seating arrangements! Ask me where I'm sitting now. Today, we had a very special visitor: Constable Marc. He came in and talked a bit about his role in the community and the tools he uses to help those around him. See if I can remember the first three (and most important) tools he says he uses. He read a book about bucket filling and we did some drawing later on to show how we've filled buckets at recess (or are going to if we didn't today).
We also had music, math and we have two new letters in French which we used in some reading of syllables/words today.
Mme says: This Thursday is our library exchange day, tomorrow is when Scholastics are due back and to watch for the December newsletter tonight.
