A busy Friday

A quick and busy day today! We played a literacy game this morning with a partner. It involved dice, a partner, a game board and many words of the week. Ask me what it was about. We also played a new math game involving several dice and a partner, had dance with Ajay and finished some work from the week. Ask me what we movement break we did instead of heading outside.

A reminder now that Wednesday next week is library day.

A lot of French goals reached!

A great start to the week - many French goals were reached today and several students went home, having completed their goal of speaking with their peers. Mme felt so proud when another teacher commented today on how well they were speaking in French! Today, we went to the library. We learned why 10 is so special (ask me why and how I can use 10 if I'm trying to add 9 to a number (9+6 can be changed to 10+5)). This afternoon, some of us made a puzzle up to 100, worked on our 100 words or played a game reading words with a friend. Our outside time in Science was pushed back as we needed to have an emergency meeting on stealing. Please talk to me about what I learned from that conversation.
A note from Mme: field trip forms went home today for our April 6th field trip to Fort Calgary. Please return by March 19th.

Monday is Library Day

Today, we had a great City of Calgary presentation on what makes up a city and community. We were able to add drawings to the white board to show what Calgary started as and has now become. We also had dance with Ajay. We are looking forward to showing you our dance on Monday, March 16th! The rest of the day was simply finishing work from the week and having some free time.

Please return library books in their plastic bag on Monday.

A great day!

Wow! Mme has been so impressed with how much French is being spoken in the class these days - bravo à nous! We continued working on our 100 mots this morning as well as working a math problem using a balance. Given 4 numbers, how do we figure out how to balance the scale? For ex.: 2, 4, 3, 1.  Using blocks and/or a scale, we were able to determine that 2+3 = 4+1.  We had a Social Studies talk on community groups that we belong to. Please talk to me about which one I'd like to talk about with my class. In Science, we had some great conversations about winter: we even heard that one way winter affects us that there is often more accidents on the road due to slippery road conditions. Great scientific thinking! Finally, we finished off our day with dance with Ajay and music. Une bonne journée!

Hot lunch tomorrow

Today, we continued to work on our 100 words. Ask me what words 21-30 are! We also played a math game, wrote in our journals, had dance with Ajay, wrote strategies for our goals and played a literacy game this morning. It involved the words of the week and making boxes. Ask me about it!

Notes from Mme: tomorrow is hot lunch and library day is on Monday. Mme Brinson had sent home an email a while back about the Marion Carson School presentation on "Taming Anxiety Gremlins" that is happening tomorrow evening from 6.30-8.30. I went to it a couple of years back and found it very informative with some great ideas.

mardi le 3 mars 2020

Today, we:
-talked about Growth Mindset
-talked about winter in Science, watched a video talking about it and drew some things that change from winter to spring (ask me what I drew!)
-"made 10" in math (ask me about the rainbow rule if I haven't explained it to you yet!)
-went to "la musique"
